Memories

We had our Christmas with the family last night. The "angels " then stayed overnight at grammas house. I bought them each a new Christmas coloring book, and after opening gifts and dessert, we watched " How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Dave and I reminisced about the first time we had seen it, ( dang that makes me feel old ). The first time the Grinch was on we lived in Worthington MN. We were getting ready to go to our Christmas program at St Matthews Church, and it came on. We watched about 5 min worth.
I can also remember the magical first time I saw Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and it was in COLOR !!! Mom and Dad were shopping at Tempo ( predates KMart or Target). The floor models of color TVs were turned to Rudolph. Ahhh, I can still feel the excitement.
Right now, my angels are watching "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" . I hope I'm making memories for them to remember like I have.

  1. I remember the Rudolf Cartoon at the Tempo store and I still feel guilty that you kids couldn't sit there on the floor in the aisle and watch it.
I was worried about being embarrassed, I guess, or more likely in a hurry to get home to get stuff done. Christmas was such a hassle what with going up north for Christmas Eve and then packing up back to Worthington the next morning for another Christmas!

  2. That's the difference between a child and an adult. For me, that is a warm special memory because, I wasn't the one rushing and making sure things were just right. But being with family at Christmas, that I remember. Great job Mom !!
